Hello there

Let's jump in...

The How To

The next episode of our Wavetable Live sessions is this Wednesday, Nov 17 at 12pm ET / 5pm GMT.

This time we're answering a question that's becoming more and more common:

“How I can design a successful in-person off-site that embeds our vision and gets the team excited, motivated, and primed to think differently? I haven’t done this for a while!”

To tackle this question we're joined by special guest Katie Dreke. Katie is a Global Strategy & Innovation Consultant who's worked across the globe with leading brands and creative agencies. She most recently spent 7 years at Nike across Global Brand Innovation, Global Media, Nike Membership and Nike Women - organizing, participating in and leading many off-sites and workshop along the way.

We'll be getting into finding the right blend of off-site ingredients; important considerations for 2022; and why slow thinking matters.

Curious to check out the previous episode? I built a client workshop using just 5 sheets of paper. See how >

Hot & Cool

Marshall McLuhan coined two categories of media: hot & cool. Here’s what Hot & Cool in our world right now.

Cool: Tommy Hilfiger's Fashion School. Whether it's issues around sustainability, body image, or accessibility, the fashion industry takes a fair bit of flak (often for good reason). However, one area the industry is making some serious inroads is education.

The likes of Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Virgil Abloh have all run mentorship programs of one flavor or other, but Tommy Hilfiger is taking it one step further with a fully fledged college program. The Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Business School is launching in partnership with his alma mater Elmira College in New York.

We're curious to see how it goes. How much of the Tommy Hilfiger brand DNA is going to be shared? Can the school stand out above the rest? And will students get a discount on jeans...?

Hot: 5 levels of.... This series by WIRED magazine asks experts in complex topics to explain them to 5 different people: a child, a teenager, a college student, a grad student, and a fellow expert. The series has been around for a while, but it's more needed than ever.

Which other topics could benefit from the 5 levels treatment? NFTs and web3, perhaps...?

In Development: Wavetable goes web3

Last time we shared a snapshot of our upcoming trends report on the future of Edutainment. One of the macro trends driving this new wave of Edutainment is the rise of web3 and NFTs.

As we like to walk our talk (and take things a little meta), we'll be offering access to the Premium version of our report via an exclusive NFT drop. Holding an NFT will give you access to:

  • Our Edutainment 3.0 report
  • Premium content: additional case studies, recommendations and best practices
  • A private community
  • 5 x workshops: live, interactive sessions to explore and co-create with peers
  • Dedicated 1:1 consulting sessions with our team
  • A vote on Edutainment social impact projects we’ll be supporting
  • Being part of future Edutainment 3.0 projects

Woof. We'll be opening up access in the next edition of the Wavetable Dispatch, as well as providing some education on getting started with NFTs.

In the meantime, if you're curious about anything Edutainment 3.0 or NFTs, we'd love to chat. Just hit reply.

The Word on the Wire

What we’ve been hearing from our clients and community:

“When we've all been squeezed into a screen for the last 18 months, how do you bring the widescreen version of yourself to an in-person event?”

“I'm using a workshop framework creating by a big-name business school. It looks great, but it's also really hefty... how do I inject my personality into the session?!"

That's all for this edition - we'd love to get your questions, input, and vibes. Just hit reply.

Until next time,

Howard & the Wavetable team
